Mid-day meal workers have urged the state government to regularise their services and pay them a monthly remuneration of Rs 28,000 amid the rising inflation.

A resolution in this respect was passed at a district-level conference of Mid-Day Meal Workers’ Union here today to highlight various issues of the workers.

Rajender Singh, state president, AIUTU, said at present, the mid-day meal workers were being paid Rs 7,000 per month. Many a time, the remuneration was released late, he added.

“We urge the state government to regularise the services of mid-day meal workers. They should be monthly paid at least Rs 28,000 on 7th of every month. Besides, they should be given a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakhs on their retirement while an annual uniform allowance of Rs 2,500 should be given to them,” he added. On the occasion, a district committee was also constituted to efficiently raise the concerns of the mid-day meal workers.
