Haryana minister Bedi flags off trucks carrying relief material to flood-ravaged Punjab

Haryana’s Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi flagged off trucks loaded with relief material for the people of Punjab, who were facing the horrors of floods.

After flagging off the trucks in Yamunanagar, he said the relief material had been sent to the rural areas of Patiala in Punjab by social workers, philanthropists and social organisations in collaboration with the administration. He further said the flood tragedy in Punjab had drastically affected the lives of the people.

“Relief material is being sent from the district headquarters of Haryana for the people of Punjab. The material includes medical kits, buckets, tarpaulins, flour, pulses, sugar, rice, potatoes, onions, mustard oil and spices along with various types of food items used daily. This will help in providing relief to the flood-affected people,” said Minister Bedi.

He said social workers, philanthropists, administration, social organisations and BJP workers from all over the state were coming forward to help the affected people in this hour of crisis.

“The whole country stands with the people of Punjab in this hour of crisis,” said Bedi.

He said it was the nature of India, especially people of Haryana, that when any calamity occurred, the countrymen handled the situation together. “Along with the district administration, every section of society is coming forward to help. Helping someone at the time of a disaster is the most virtuous act,” said Bedi.

BJP district president Rajesh Sapra, former Cabinet Minister Kanwarpal Gujjar, Mayor Suman Bahamani and other party officials were present.

Meanwhile, Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora also flagged off a truck loaded with relief material for Punjab.

Dass Arora said the tragedy of floods in Punjab had badly affected the lives of the people.
