Minister flags off cyclothon in Jhajjar, calls for ‘nasha-mukt, khel-yukt’ society

A cyclothon was organised in Jhajjar city on Sunday to promote a lifestyle free of drugs and enriched with sports. Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Rajesh Nagar flagged off the cyclothon and participated in the cycle rally.

People from all age groups participated in the cyclothon, which passed through key city areas and markets before concluding at the stadium, helping spread the message of a “Nasha-mukt, Khel-yukt” society. Bahadurgarh MLA Rajesh June and senior BJP leader Sanjay Kabalana also participated in the event.

In his address, Nagar urged the youth to make sports an integral part of life and keep away from drugs. He added that Olympic gold medallists are awarded Rs 6 crore, silver medallists Rs 4 crore and bronze medallists Rs 2.5 crore in cash prizes. Athletes are also being given reservation in government services. Nagar said it was matter of pride that Manu Bhaker, Aman Sehrawat, Palak Gulia and Yogesh Kathunia, who have brought glory to India at international events, hail from Jhajjar.
