Rohtak, July 30

Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for Shiksha, a financially distressed national wushu champion from Rohtak.

She had been forced to work as farm labourer at Indergarh village in Rohtak to support her family. She had been helping her mother, who worked as labourer under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

“We are pursuing her case and she will get her due cash awards at the earliest,” said District Sports Officer Sukhbir Singh.
