Along with the heavy rainfall, water discharge from Jind and other districts into the Ghaggar Multipurpose Drain has caused breaches at several places in Hisar, leading to major losses, Gangwa said, adding that the state government will compensate affected people.

“Financial assistance is being provided to people whose houses have been damaged in Narnaund and other places. In Koth Kalan, family of one Rahisha, who died in a house collapse, has been given financial aid of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” he said, adding that medical treatment was being provided to those injured in various incidents.

The minister said crop losses are continuously being reported on the e-Kshatipurti portal. After verification, the process of distributing compensation will begin, Gangwa said, adding that so far, about 30,000 farmers from 276 villages have reported crop damage on over 2 lakh acres of land.
