The recent anti-drug campaign in Jakhal village, led by village sarpanch Arjun Singh and residents of the Bajigar Basti, has allegedly led to a violent backlash. The sarpanch and villagers said that they were targeted due to their efforts to fight drug abuse in the area.

The incident took place around 11:30 pm on Saturday when Singh and his family were at home. They were suddenly disturbed by loud explosions. Upon stepping outside, Singh saw that large stones, typically used for railway tracks, were thrown at the house. Additionally, empty bottles of alcohol were found scattered on the roof and the family's car was damaged due to stone-pelting.

He and the villagers believe that the attack was made to silence his voice against the sale of drugs in the village.

He called for swift police action against those responsible for the attack.

Police officials at the Jakhal police station, led by SHO Radhe Shyam, visited the sarpanch's house and conducted a thorough investigation. CCTV footage from the area revealed that four young men arrived on a bike and pelted stones before fleeing the spot. The police are trying to identify the accused from CCTV footage.
