MLA finds hospital staff absent during surprise visit

Local MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora conducted a surprise inspection of Mukand Lal District Civil Hospital here on Saturday. On checking the staff attendance registers, the MLA found several employees absent.

He expressed displeasure over absenteeism and directed the Health Department officials to issue notices to the absent employees. During the inspection, the MLA also spoke with patients admitted to the hospital and inquired about their problems.

Arora enquired from patients and their families about the facilities available at the hospital and the quality of treatment. He said the patients should receive the benefits of government schemes and facilities on time and any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.

The MLA expressed displeasure at the filth on the hospital premises and in the wards. He instructed officials to improve the cleanliness system, so that patients and their families do not have to face any inconvenience. He emphasised that cleanliness should be priority at hospitals.

Arora also instructed the Health Department officials that the patients should not face any kind of problem. Medicines and testing facilities to them should be made available on time, he added.

The MLA clarified that the government was striving to improve health services and it was the responsibility of the officers and employees to make the efforts successful at the ground level. The department officials present during the inspection assured that the condition of the hospital would be improved soon and other shortcomings would also be rectified.
