MLA Gangwa visits Barwala mandi

With the arrival of paddy and other kharif crops in full swing, newly elected Barwala MLA Ranbir Gangwa visited the Barwala grain market today along with administrative officials to assess the procurement process. Gangwa assured farmers that the state government was committed to ensuring they face no difficulties during the crop procurement process.

Accompanied by Barwala SDM Ved Prakash Beniwal and DFSC Amit Shekhawat, Gangwa toured the mandi and interacted with farmers and commission agents (arhtiyas). He directed officials to ensure that essential services such as electricity, water, toilets, and lighting are adequately provided in the grain market. He emphasised that timely issuance of gate passes for farmers must be maintained, in line with the schedule set by the state government.

Hisar Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya highlighted that nodal officers and mandi in-charges have been appointed to oversee the procurement process for the 2024-25 kharif season. These officers will manage operations at the 14 mandis and procurement centres allocated for government purchase of paddy, including Barwala, Bass, Balsmand, Daulatpur, Hansi, Khedi Jalab, Lohari Ragho, Narnaund, Pabra, Sisay, Uklana, Ghirai, Hisar, and Adampur.

The Deputy Commissioner added that nodal officers will resolve any issues arising during the procurement process and submit daily reports on the action taken.

Meanwhile, HAFED district manager Anurag Gupta said the paddy stock would be sent to rice mills from tomorrow, as tie-ups with eight millers have been sealed. A Food and Supplies Department official noted that procurement had been slow initially due to the high moisture content in the paddy.
