The Minister of State for Youth Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, Sports, Law and Legislative and local MLA, Gaurav Gautam, launched the cleanliness drive in the city on Monday.

Speaking at the occasion, Gautam said while several measures were being taken to ensure a proper beautification, a cleanliness drive had been launched to make the city clean and green.

The Municipal Council of Palwal had procured infrastructure and machinery, including JCB machines, tractor-trailers and rickshaws for the work of collection and disposal of the civic waste. Besides, the wall painting work under the overbridges and main roads has also begun.

Presiding over the drive that started from the bus stand, the minister said the civic authorities were instructed to garbage was not dumped in the open and that every nook and corner of the city was cleaned.

He said selfie points would be created at several spots and tri-coloured streetlights would be installed at important passages and intersections. He said all roads would be repaired, and the civic infrastructure would be renovated to improve the sewerage and drainage system in the city.

Deputy Commissioner Harish Kumar Vashishth, Additional Deputy Commissioner Akhil Pilani and MC officials were among those present on the occasion.
