Assandh MLA Yogendra Rana reiterated the demand for upgrading Assandh as a district. He raised this demand in the ongoing Haryana Assembly Budget session-2025-26, emphasising that the upgrade would ensure better facilities and faster administrative work for the people of the region.

He raised the issue of four-laning of Karnal-Jind road and Kohand-Assandh road for improving connectivity and boosting economic development.

“Assandh is situated on the border of four districts –Karnal, Panipat, Kaithal and Jind. It requires a trauma centre for better emergency medical care,” said Rana.

To boost sports, Assandh MLA also raised the demand for the construction of a shooting range in Dadupur village to promote sports, especially considering Haryana's achievements in the Olympics. Besides, he demanded a sports stadium in Assandh with facilities for athletics, volleyball and basketball.

The MLA also raised the issue of setting up HSVP sectors in Assandh for facilitating urban expansion. “There is a need to develop the HSVP sector for urbanisation in the area. Assandh should be declared as an industrial zone. It is located on 152-D Expressway and Delhi-Katra Highway,” said the MLA.

Emphasising women empowerment and rural development, Rana also raised the demand for opening a self-help group (SHG) training centre for women to promote financial independence. Rahra, Munak, and Ardana villages should be included under the Maha Gram Yojana for rapid rural development.

For agriculture and livestock development, Rana also demanded establishment of a veterinary disease diagnosis laboratory for timely treatment of livestock. Assandh vegetable market should be shifted to a more suitable location for better facilities for traders and farmers.

Rana also emphasised on water supply and strengthening the infrastructure and said there was a need to provide canal-based drinking water supply to villages such as Gangatehri, Popra, Jhimrikhera, where groundwater was unfit for consumption. He also raised the issue of strengthening and beautifying the Assandh bypass for overall development of the town. Community centres should be constructed in major villages including Munak, Chaunchra, Narukheri, Chor Karsa, Upalana, Picholia, Kutana, Jani, Rahra, Salwan, Bal Rajputana, Pabna Hasanpur, Ganga Tehri, Popra, and Barota to facilitate social and cultural activities.

“I urge the government to take positive steps on my demands,” said Rana.
