Saini community has a good vote bank in Yamunanagar district, which will influence the elections. Political observers said Saini had a strong grip on other communities also and a strong base of supporters.

In the last MC election, the BJP was victorious and senior party leader Madan Chauhan was elected Mayor. However, this time, the post of Mayor has been fixed for women candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste.

The MCYJ has 22 wards, which cover areas of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri and villages falling under the jurisdiction of the MC.
