District Municipal Commissioner Satinder Siwach inspected the ongoing special sanitation drive in Thanesar on Tuesday and appealed to the public to cooperate with the council in maintaining cleanliness. The DMC inspected the cleanliness near Pipli Zoo, Gita Dwar, New Bus Stand, Mohan Nagar and other areas under the Municipal Council and issued instructions to the sanitation workers.

Siwach said, “To improve sanitation, a special drive is being organised from May 21 to May 31 in Thanesar and under the limits of other civic bodies in the district. Vendors and shopkeepers have been directed to make use of dustbins and put the garbage in the collection vehicle of the municipal council. If they fail to follow the directions, challans will be issued and their goods confiscated. Challans were also issued to two shopkeepers for not keeping dustbins, near Pipli bus stand.”

“Though the municipal council has been making efforts, we appeal to the general public to cooperate with the sanitation workers in maintaining cleanliness. It has been observed that people throw garbage in the open area and later stray animals scatter the garbage. Action will be taken against the people who throw their garbage along the roads and in open plots,” he added.
