In the meeting, Yadav instructed vendors not to use banned polythene, to keep dustbins near their stalls and to avoid illegal encroachment. Giving strict instructions, he said, “If anyone does not follow these orders, action will be taken against him as per the rules. Goods kept on the road will be confiscated and a challan of up to Rs 25,000 will be issued.”

He said efforts were being made to make the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri “beautiful, clean and hygienic.”

“Special cleanliness drives, anti-encroachment drives, beautification of road dividers, cleaning of all drains and sewers and other arrangements are being made in twin cities,” Yadav said.

He added that meetings and door-to-door visits were being held with shopkeepers, vendors, hotel and restaurant operators and social organisations to ensure better sanitation. He urged vendors to dispose of waste through door-to-door collection vehicles. “If anyone litters around them, they should take photos on their mobile phones and inform MC officials. Those who litter in the open will not be spared and strict action will be taken against them,” he warned.

With the festival season under way, he cautioned that shopkeepers and vendors must not place goods on the roads. Chief Sanitation Inspector Harjeet Singh, Sanitation Inspectors Amit Kamboj and Sachin Kamboj, along with street vendors, attended the meeting.
