Nagrik Parishad announces Parakram March to honour Army

In the wake of the recent missile incident near Sirsa, a delegation from the Nagrik Parishad Sirsa, along with representatives from various political and social organisations, met Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma on Saturday. During the meeting, the parishad promised full support to the administration and appreciated the prompt security measures taken to protect the district. They also expressed solidarity with the armed forces and emphasised the need for public cooperation during this sensitive time.

A crucial meeting of the Nagrik Parishad was held at the PWD Rest House on Barnala Road, chaired by BJP leader and patron of the Nagrik Parishad Jagdish Chopra. The meeting focused on the missile fired from Pakistan that was intercepted and neutralised by the Air Force near Sirsa. The incident raised concerns about the vulnerability of border regions and members agreed that heightened vigilance was now more important than ever.

During the discussion, it was unanimously decided that a Parakram March would be held on May 12 to honour the courage and swift action of the Indian Army. The march will start at 11 am from Janata Bhawan and conclude at Bhadra Park. The aim is to boost the morale of the Armed Forces and show unity among the people of Sirsa.

Key participants at the meeting included Kalanwali MLA Shishpal Keharwala, SP Dr Mayank Gupta, INLD district president Jasbir Singh Jassa, JJP district president Ashok Verma, Congress leader Rajkumar Sharma, Prof Ravindra Puri, Gurjeet Mann, Parishad secretary Surendra Bhatia, and JJP spokesperson Amar Singh Jiyani, among others. All leaders expressed their concern over the missile incident and pledged to work together in maintaining peace and discipline.

The parishad also announced a press conference to be held on Sunday at 10.30 am at the same venue. Through the media, an appeal will be made to the public to remain calm, stay alert, avoid spreading rumours and strictly refrain from sharing photos or videos of military movements. Citizens are urged to report any suspicious drone or object activity immediately to helpline number 112.

To prevent panic and misinformation, the parishad will soon launch a public awareness campaign focused on security, accurate information and national unity. It has appealed to the residents of Sirsa to maintain restraint, stand united and trust the armed forces and administration in this critical period.
