A 45-year-old man, Neeraj, from Narnaund in Hisar district reportedly died by suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at his residence today. The victim live streamed the act on Facebook, blaming some neighbours for forcing him to take the extreme step.

The victim’s son, Bhupender, said he rushed his father to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The victim, a resident of Ward No. 10, was allegedly embroiled in a dispute with neighbours and two councillors of the Narnaund Municipal Committee over the past four days.

According to information, the tussle began on August 7 Neeraj had complained to councillor Tekram about the accumulation of mud in a street dug up for sewer work. When he could not get any help, he tried to level the soil himself. However, the dispute could not be resolved as he was allegedly manhandled by some villagers.

Bhupender has filed a complaint against Aman, Anil, Neelam, Sunil, Nikki, Ward No. 10 councillor Tekram, and Ward No. 13 councillor Devender, accusing them of abetting his father’s suicide.

SHO Balwan Singh said a case had been registered against seven persons.
