The department of journalism and mass communication at Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, on Monday organised a special programme to celebrate National Public Relations Day.

Professor and former Director (PR), Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Sunit Mukherjee was the keynote speaker at the event.

He said public relations was more than just communication. “It is a passion, and a powerful tool for nation-building and social change,” he added.

Mukherjee encouraged students to view PR not just as a job, but as a service to society.

He noted that April 21 was celebrated as National PR Day in India since 1968, marking the first national PR conference in Delhi.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty and dignitaries. Students also engaged in a question-answer session with the guest speaker.

The event was led by Sewa Singh Bajwa, who highlighted PR’s role in building trust between organisations and the public in the digital age.

CDLU Director (PR) Dr Amit Sangwan welcomed the guests and said the event was held under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Narsiram Bishnoi.
