Kaithal: The Department of Political Science of RKSD College, Kaithal, organised a two-day national seminar on ‘Vision of Independent India: An evaluation of 75 years experience’ under the convenership of Prof Surender Arya. It was inaugurated by Prof RS Yadav, former head of Department of Political Science, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. President Saket Mangal and other office-bearers welcomed him. Principal Dr Sanjay Goyal introduced the keynote speaker. Dr RK Gupta presided over this inaugural session. In the closing ceremony on the second day, Professor Sanjeev Sharma, head of the Department of Political Science, Chaudhry Charan Singh University, Meerut, and General AK Shorey (Retd) played the role of keynote speaker and chairman.

Marathon on World Drug Day

Sonepat: Under the joint aegis of Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University and District Police Administration, Sonepat, on the occasion of World Drug Day, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the university organised a marathon run for drug de-addiction public awareness on Thursday. Vice-Chancellor Dr Archana Mishra flagged off the marathon. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nikita Khattar also participated in the marathon. Dr Mishra said the Haryana Government had declared a fortnight of World Drug Day from June 12 to 26. Dr Mishra said that any kind of intoxication was injurious to health. Therefore, one should live a healthy life by staying away from drugs. Dr Amit Guleria, programme officer of NSS unit, said a marathon race of 5000 meters was organised at the Rajiv Gandhi Education City in which above two hundred participants took part. Abhishek of sixth semester, stood first, Pankaj of fourth semester second and Shubham of fourth semester bagged the third position.

Professor gets fellowship

Hisar: Prof Ram Singh, Former Director, Human Resource Management, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, was admitted as fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences by Dr T Mohapatra, Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Government of India, in the 29th annual general body meeting of the academy held recently in Delhi. Dr KC Bansal, Secretary, NAAS, presented the certificate of fellowship to Prof Ram Singh. Prof Ram Singh is only the second scientist from the faculty of HAU in the last 20 years recognised with this prestigious honour.
