Navik Manoj Kumar cremated with honours in Jhajjar district
Pradhan Navik Manoj Kumar, who lost his life along with two pilots in a crash of an Indian Coast Guard helicopter during a sortie at Porbandar Airport in Gujarat on Sunday, was cremated with full military honours at his native Mundahera village of Jhajjar district on Tuesday.
Personnel from the Indian Coast Guard and Haryana Police reversed their arms and fired gunshots into the air as a mark of respect. Jhajjar SDM Ravindra Yadav represented the district administration, offering a wreath on Kumar's mortal remains.
His last rites were marked by chants of "Jab tak suraj chand rahega, Manoj Kumar tera naam rahega" and "Bharat Mata ki jai".
Zila Parishad chairman Captain Singh Birdhana praised Manoj Kumar as a courageous sailor, who died in the line of duty.
