“Under the development of climate resilient sustainable agri-based systems for the farming community of cold arid region-Ladakh with the support of the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, the NDRI has started work in Ladakh to educate farmers by conducting workshops and engaging them in various agricultural and allied sectors,” said the director, adding that he and Manmohan Singh Chauhan, VC of GBPUAT, Pantnagar, had reviewed the project two days ago and interacted with farmers at the High Mountain Arid Agriculture Research Institute (HMAARI) in Leh. Singh emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship for Ladakh’s youth, suggesting opportunities through farmer producer organisations and SHGs, and called for collaborative research in dairy technology.
