Health Department’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Sudhir Rajpal on Monday warned that negligence in improving the sex ratio would not be tolerated.

“Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of districts not showing good performance will face strict departmental action. They are under continuous monitoring,” Rajpal said while chairing a State Task Force (STF) meeting through virtual mode.

The ACS directed CMOs to remain proactive in their respective districts and further strengthen field-level monitoring. He also asked headquarters officials to extend full support to districts and take concrete measures.

During the meeting, it was revealed that from January 1 to September 22, the state’s sex ratio improved to 907, compared to 904 during the same period last year. However, the performance of several districts remained unsatisfactory.

Rajpal asked CMOs of such districts to prepare a concrete action plan and take corrective steps without delay.

The meeting also took up the case of Kaithal district, where a government pharmacist was allegedly caught illegally selling MTP kits. The ACS directed the Kaithal CMO to submit an action report, suspend the pharmacist immediately, and ensure police action against him.
