Net suspension hits online classes, food delivery

The suspension of internet services for the past three days in Karnal has not only affected online classes of students, but also on financial transactions. Online food delivery service has also been affected.

Anticipating law and order problem owing to the meeting of farmers on Tuesday against the police lathicharge on August 28, the government suspended internet services (2G/3G/4G/CDMA/GPRS), all SMS services and all dongle services etc provided on mobile networks, except voice calls, for Tuesday. It was extended for one more day and further till Thursday.

“Online exams of my daughter are scheduled, but as there is no internet service, exams are not being conducted. I request the government to start internet service,” said a mother of a Class VI student of the city.

Similarly, Amit Kumar, father of two children, said that without internet service, online classes are not being conducted.

Chirag Chaudhary, a businessman, said that in the absence of internet, he was not able to make financial transactions.

A delivery boy of a food app said that due to non-availability of internet service, business was getting affected. They were not getting orders as SMS is not functional.
