Chairing a review meeting on road repair works of various departments, Saini said every construction site must be inspected, samples collected and tested in laboratories, and their reports preserved. All Deputy Commissioners and DMCs attended the meeting via video conferencing.
The Chief Minister instructed departments to install signboards and construct berms along all roads. He further said feedback must be taken from local residents where road works are in progress, inter-state connecting roads should be improved and trees planted for beautification.
Saini stressed that work on projects whose tenders have already been allotted must begin immediately, with officers keeping full knowledge of ongoing projects in their districts. He cautioned that development works should be completed on time with no compromise on quality.
The CM directed officials to identify stretches where rainwater flows over roads and lay pipes for drainage. He also ordered beautification of key chowks in Kurukshetra on the Mahabharata theme ahead of Gita Jayanti. In Morni, kutcha paths damaged by rains will be repaired under MGNREGA, he said.
Saini asked Deputy Commissioners to collect samples from several roads for quality testing. These include the road in front of PM Shree Girls Senior Secondary School and Bhirdana road in Fatehabad, the road in Sector 14 in Hisar, roads in villages Samastpur Majra and Marout in Jhajjar, and the Mouli–Pyarewala road in Panchkula.
Officials informed the CM that recent rains have damaged 1,107 km of Public Works Department (PWD) roads, with repair works estimated at Rs 287 crore. Tenders have also been issued for 240 km of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) roads, while the tender process is underway for another 208 km.
They added that 209 roads of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board have been completed at a cost of ₹89 crore, work is ongoing on 236 roads worth Rs 140 crore, and tenders are being processed for 38 more.
