Nine arrested with illegal liquor, lahan in Sirsa dist

Under a special campaign against drug traffickers, illegal liquor traders and black market operators, Sirsa police teams conducted raids at various locations and arrested nine individuals. The police seized 265 litres of raw liquor material (lahan) and 95 bottles of illegal country-made liquor during the operations.

Dhani Kheowali village. The information led them to raid the house of Sukhdev Singh, aka Sukha, where they discovered 170 litres of hidden lahan.

In another incident, the Ding police raided Ajit Singh’s house at Moriwala village, seizing 55 liters of lahan. Similarly, the Rori police arrested Gurdeep Singh from Chak Thiraj village with 40 litres of lahan and four bottles of illegal liquor.

In urban areas, the City police apprehended Vikas Kumar from Lakkhi Talab Mohalla with 13 bottles of illegal country-made liquor. Mohan Lal from Khajakhera Road and Kheti Singh from Rania Road were caught with 14 and 13 bottles of liquor, respectively. The Nathusari Chopta Police also arrested Subey Singh from Gigorani village with 14 bottles of illegal liquor.

In Ellenabad, Dhanraj from Umedpura village was arrested with 15 bottles of country-made liquor. The district’s Anti-Narcotics Cell acted on a tip-off and arrested Subhash Chandra from Auto Market, Sirsa, recovering 22 bottles of illegal liquor.

Cases have been registered under the Excise Act against the accused at

the respective police stations, and investigations are underway.
