The Cyber Crime Police Station team of Panchkula Police has arrested the ninth accused in a Rs 1.75 crore cyber fraud case. The accused, Arvind Bhanushali, resident of New Janata Colony, Bharatnagar, Gandhidham, District Kutch (Gujarat), was arrested on November 8 after a police raid. He was produced in court today and placed under six-day police remand for questioning.

The case was registered in July 2024 after a Panchkula resident complained of being cheated through a Facebook advertisement that lured him with the promise of doubling profits through stock market investments. After liking the advert, he received a WhatsApp link and was persuaded to invest a large amount, eventually losing about Rs 1.75 crore.

Cyber Police Station in-charge Yudhvir Singh stated that the case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and was being investigated by Sub-Inspector Bhup Singh, who conducted the Gujarat raid leading to Bhanushali’s arrest.

Earlier, eight accused had already been arrested. These include Krishan Kumar and Subhash (arrested in December 2024), Sanjay Kumar alias Boxer (July 2025), Tejendra Pal Singh (July), Harjeet Singh, Parvinder, and Harry (October), and Chetan from Gujarat (November 3). Their interrogation helped police identify more members of the fraud network.

Police said several other suspects have been identified, and further arrests are expected soon as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the entire cybercrime syndicate.
