For a decade, the residents have been demanding that parks be developed there.
Residential welfare associations (RWAs) of these two sectors have met the HSVP officials as well as Urban Local Bodies Minister and local BJP MLA Kamal Gupta several times to press their demands, but to no avail.
Sector 33 RWA president DS Pannu said they had nine park sites in the sector. However, none of the sites were fully developed. Though some sites had boundary walls, three of these did not even have any wall, he added. Besides, no facility was available for the residents visiting the park for morning walk or any other activity, the president further said.
Similarly, there were six parks in Sector 14 (Part 2), but none of the sites had been developed till now. Sector 14 (Part 2) RWA president Praveen Singhal said the HSVP had demarcated the boundaries of the park sites by installing barbed wires. “However, those were not sufficient as these sites are a haven for stray cattle,” he added.
Sector 33 RWA secretary Balwinder Singh said they did not have any site/area for the morning walkers in these two sectors located near the Sirsa road. He said, “The elderly people face the threat of being attacked by stray cattle if out on a walk during morning and evening hours.” There were nearly 500 houses in Sector 14 (Part 2) and 700 in Sector 33, he added.
Anil Jain, an ex-MC member from these sectors said he had raised the issues of undeveloped parks in almost every meeting of the civic body.
“There are some proposals for the development of the park sites that have been lying pending,” he said, adding that they met MC Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, who also holds the charge of HSVP Commissioner, regarding the matter.
The Commissioner has followed up the matter with the head office at Chandigarh and assured that he would expedite the proposals.
