Haryana: No let-up in vigil on nakas sharing border with Punjab

The Kaithal police continued its vigil on two key nakas located along the border with Punjab to monitor the movement of farmers from Punjab. At present, the authorities have deployed three companies each of police and paramilitary personnel to maintain law and order in the area.

The Sangatpura and Tatiana nakas, which serve as crucial entry points from Punjab to Haryana, have been fortified with permanent barricades. These measures aim to prevent any unauthorised entry or untoward incident along the border. Besides, barricades have been lifted from other points, giving relief to commuters.

These nakas were installed in the wake of Punjab farmers’ call of Delhi march in February. However, so far, no farmer has come to this side and they preferred to go to the Shambhu and Datta Singh Wala checkpoint in Narwana, district Jind.

Kaithal SP Ms Upasana claimed the situation was peaceful, with no reported instances of farmers breaching the border from Punjab to Haryana so far. “We are maintaining a continuous vigil on both the Sangatpura and Tatiana nakas. We will not take any risk and continue our vigil till further orders,” the SP said. The coordinated efforts of the police and paramilitary forces are underway to ensure safety and security of residents, she added.
