Ambala City Magistrate Abhishek Garg stated that a government primary school and a middle school have been renamed in accordance with the directives and instructions issued by the Haryana Chief Secretary.
Government Middle School, Dhamouli Bichli, which has been named after martyr Sher Singh, will now be known as Shaheed Shri Sher Singh Government Middle School. Government Primary School, Korwa Kalan, has been renamed as Shaheed Shri Narender Singh Government Primary School after martyr Narender Singh, Garg added.
He said associating the names of the martyrs with the schools will encourage the spirit of patriotism among students, youths and future generations and make them aware of their great contributions.
District Education Officer Sudhir Kalra said there were requests regarding renaming the two government schools after the martyrs. Following directions from the Deputy Commissioner’s office and after verification, a case was sent through the Zila Sainik Board and the names were changed by the competent authority, he added.
“We have received information regarding the approval and we will also send a request letter to the Directorate to change the names of the schools on the MIS (Management Information System) portal of the department,” he said.
