Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has invited online nominations from all offices of the state for the Sardar Patel National Unity Award. The nominations should be submitted by August 9. The felicitation will be awarded by the Centre. Detailed information and guidelines in the matter are available on the website of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. TNS

Names of outstanding women employees sought

The Haryana Women and Child Development Department has directed all departments to recommen names of outstanding women employees. The names of women, who have done exemplary work, especially in the cases of moral courage, are recommended to be sent to the department by October 29. TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
