Sirsa MP and former Union Minister Kumari Selja today said the BJP government in Haryana had not fulfilled even a single promise from its manifesto.

Expressing her views on the completion of Nayab Saini government’s 100 days in office, she said they had forgotten its promise to give Rs 2,100 per month to women and to compensate for the crops damaged by hailstorms.

“Moreover, this government has failed to curb unemployment, inflation, corruption and drug abuse. The law and order in the state has collapsed, gangsters are thriving, murders are taking place openly, and extortion is rampant. This government is misleading the public with false claims just to stay in the limelight,” she added.

In a statement to mediapersons, Selja said over the last 10 years and the recent 100 days, the Haryana government had gained a reputation for being a government of empty promises. “Making false promises to gain power and then misleading the public has become its norm. Under the BJP regime, the state has been plagued by unemployment, inflation, corruption and drug abuse, with no concrete measures taken to address these issues. The law and order is in a shambles, with incidents of theft, robbery, dacoity, snatching, and extortion on the rise. Criminals have no fear, and murders are being committed in broad daylight. Several political assassinations have also taken place.”

She further said the unemployment in the state was at its peak; the youth were being offered only D-category jobs, while A and B-category jobs were being given to people from outside the state.

Selja further said the state government was finding excuses to burden the public financially. “An FSA (fuel surcharge adjustment) has been added to electricity bills, making power rates higher in Haryana compared to other states. The government has increased collector rates, shattering people's dreams of building their own homes. The common man will now think a thousand times before purchasing property. The BJP government is playing with the emotions of farmers by not meeting their demands. The government boasts of purchasing 24 crops at MSP (minimum support price), but most of these crops are not even grown in the state.”

She added, “The government had promised to compensate for 85,000 acres of crops damaged by hailstorms, but it seems to have forgotten that promise as well. The condition of the BJP government is such that even officials do not answer calls from legislators and MPs, so what hope does the common man have?”
