Notices issued as Bahadurgarh govt offices owe Rs 10 crore in property tax

The Bahadurgarh Municipal Council (MC) has intensified its efforts to recover outstanding property tax dues, revealing that various government departments across the city owe nearly Rs 10 crore. In a major move to boost revenue collections, the council has issued formal notices to local offices of these departments as well as several private schools.

Among those served notices are the District Red Cross Society, Police, Public Health and Irrigation Departments, all of which have significant property tax arrears.

The recovery drive extends further, with other defaulters including the Railways, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, Haryana Urban Development Authority, the Excise and Taxation Department, Transport, Fire Services, Sports and Youth Welfare, Rural Development, Women and Child Development, Tourism, Haryana State Agriculture Marketing Board, Revenue, Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran, Waqf Board, Social Justice and Empowerment Department. The MC has formally informed all these institutions to clear their dues at the earliest.

Sanjay Rohila, Executive Officer of the Bahadurgarh Municipal Council, stated that a special officer had been appointed specifically to manage the property tax recovery process.

“Local offices of government departments can approach the officer for any corrections in their property tax bills. Some departments have already contacted us and we corrected their bills on the spot. We urge all departments to deposit their pending taxes without further delay,” he said.

Speaking to the media, Rohila added that the funds collected through the drive would be used for various development works in the city. He stressed that timely property tax recovery was essential for enhancing infrastructure and delivering improved public services to residents.

In addition to government departments, private schools have also come under the council’s scrutiny. Notices have been issued to several such institutions that have failed to clear their property tax dues.

The MC had earlier announced in its annual budget that it would raise the property tax collection target this year. Acting on that commitment, officials have now started enforcing stricter action against both public and private defaulters.
