Marriage certificates for residents of wards 1-11 of Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation will now be made at Jagadhri office of the civic body. Earlier, marriage certificates were made for these residents at the Yamunanagar office — for which they had to travel an additional 5-7 km. Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad said the decision was taken in public interest.
He added that, previously, residents of the Jagadhri area had to go to the office at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk in Yamunanagar to get their marriages registered, and obtain certificates.
“This wasted a significant amount of time for couples and their families. Keeping public interest in mind, it has now been decided to conduct marriage registrations for residents of wards 1-11 at the Jagadhri office,” Parsad said.
Regional Taxation Officer Ajay Walia had been appointed to Jagadhri office in this regard, he added.
According to information, in addition to marriage registrations, the issuance of birth and death certificates; caste and permanent resident certificates; rent and other related certificates for the first 11 wards will also now be done at the Jagadhri office. Marriage registration for residents of wards 12-22 will be done at the Yamunanagar office.
