The woman and her child died on the spot.
After getting information, the police reached the spot, took the bodies into custody and kept those in the mortuary. An FIR for murder over dowry demand was registered against the husband and in-laws of the woman at sector-10 police station on Wednesday.
According to the police, the woman and her son were identified as Sharmila and Yuvan. The woman used to work as a nurse in a private hospital while her husband Rohit runs a juice stall near district court, Gurugram.
Rohit and Sharmila hail from different villages in Mahendragarh district and they got married four years ago. They lived in a flat in Siddharth Enclave near Wazirpur village.
It is being said that just a few days after marriage, the two began arguing. Sharmila's parents tried to resolve the matter by talking to the couple several times. On Tuesday, Sharmila's family again came to resolve an issue. After they went back, Sharmila jumped from the seventh floor around 3.30 pm with Yuvan.
On Wednesday, Surender, Sharmila’s brother, alleged Rohit and his relatives harassed her over dowry, forcing her to take this extreme step.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered under relevant Sections of the BNS against Rohit and his four other family members. “We will hand over the bodies to the relatives after the post-mortem exam tomorrow,” said sub-inspector Jagdish Kumar, the investigating officer.
