Other backward castes (OBCs) leaders of Haryana on Wednesday demanded that caste census should be included in the 2021 Census.

Addressing a press conference here, the leaders also wanted representation of backward classes from panchayat level to Parliament in the proportion of their population and 27% reservation for backward classes in Group A and Group B services.

Yogendra Yogi, an OBC leader said: “The OBCs are also worried about the provisions of the recently passed 105th Constitutional Amendment Act.  The OBCs should get representation in proportion of their population in jobs and associated spheres of public life. An OBC Mahapanchayat will be organised at Meham on August 29 to mobilise the OBCs” he asserted.

“The Mahapanchayat will be historic in the fight for justice for  the backward classes because OBC population in Haryana is nearly about 44% and 77 castes in this segment of society are still fighting for their due representation,” Yogi added.
