Hisar, March 7
As many as 14 objections have been raised against the delimitation of wards of the Municipal Corporation, Hisar. The state government had published the draft notification and sought objections from residents on the recent delimitation exercise carried out by the district administration ahead of the elections to the ULBs.
Fourteen persons have filed objections on shifting/transfer of certain localities from one ward to the other.
A perusal of the objections indicated that most of the objections came from former MC members who are also aspiring to contest the MC polls scheduled to be held later this year.
Among those who have filed the objections are former MC members Amit Grover, Jagmohan Mittal, Sushil Sharma, Udayveer Mintu, Mahender Juneja, besides Residents Welfare Association (RWA) and some residents.
Anil Taneja, a resident of Ward number 15, said it seemed that some bigwig had used influence to make changes in the delimitation of wards. He demanded that the residential localities of the Police Lines Area (PLA) sector, Green Park, Officers Colony, Hetram Colony should be included in Ward Number 15. Officials said the objections had been submitted to the government for further action.
“However, it’s difficult to make any change on the basis of objections. The entire delimitation exercise gets disturbed in case even a single objection is accommodated. For example, if about 500 votes from one ward are shifted to another ward, it will have a cascading effect on the electoral process and so, there will have to be a reshuffle in almost all wards,” said the official.
