“The responsibility to ensure prompt and constant drainage of water has been assigned to the SDO, Irrigation Department, the BDPO and the Naib Tehsildar concerned,” Gupta said, adding that these officials would visit villages allotted to them for five consecutive days.
Chairing a meeting to review the drainage arrangements, Gupta directed all officials that starting September 10, they must visit villages allotted to them every day and ensure drainage of water from fields with a robust strategy.
Maintaining that the district administration was making all-out efforts to drain out water from fields, Gupta said to expedite drainage, panchayat officials and public representatives would also be roped in.
The Deputy Commissioner had earlier constituted a three-member committee at the sub-division level under the chairmanship of the SDM concerned. The committee includes the SDO (Irrigation) and BDPO as members concerned.
This committee is jointly planning, monitoring and reviewing drainage works. It is also identifying damages, restoring basic facilities and ensuring coordination with departments and stakeholders.
The Deputy Commissioner also issued a list of 149 villages and assigned village-wise duties to the SDOs, the BDPOs, and Naib Tehsildars concerned for drainage of accumulated rainwater from fields.
