One arrested for acid attack on two women in Ambala

Two women sustained burn injuries in an acid attack at Allawalpur village of the Barara block in Ambala on Friday evening. The acid was reportedly poured by the husband of one of the victims due to a matrimonial dispute. The suspect was identified as Anil Kumar of Karnal.

The husband of the pregnant woman attacked her with acid. He has been held and will be produced in court on Sunday. They have some matrimonial dispute and probe is on.
A 23-year-old woman, who was about four months pregnant, sustained around 40 per cent burn injuries. Her brother’s 29-year-old wife sustained around 20 per cent burn injuries. The women had gone for an evening walk when they were attacked.
The pregnant woman was the target of the attack. According to information, she married a Chandigarh resident and after divorce, wedded Anil about a year and a half ago. She was staying at her maternal house in Allawalpur village at present. She suffered burn injuries on her head, face and stomach.
The accused came on a motorcycle with his face covered. After pouring the acid, he drove away from the spot. The victims were rushed to a hospital in Mullana, where they were undergoing treatment. After getting information, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jorwal reached the hospital.
While the pregnant woman was on ventilator, the other victim was out of danger. “A case has been registered at the Barara police station. Anil has been arrested. He motorcycle, parked in Kurukshetra, is yet to be recovered,” said Barara SHO Hamir Singh.
“The husband of the pregnant woman attacked her with acid. He has been held and will be produced in court on Sunday. They have some matrimonial dispute and probe is still on,” said Jorwal. — TNS
