One arrested in Karnal sisters' death case

The Karnal police have arrested a person in connection with the deaths of two missing sisters whose bodies were recovered from a canal near Ghoghripur village late on Monday evening. Both sisters had gone missing on July 24. Their family members alleged that both were murdered.
Earlier, the police had registered a case of kidnapping and later after recovering the bodies, cops added the sections of murder and SC/ST Act in the FIR.
The accused was identified as Bilal, a resident of Gangoh and presently living in the city. He was taken on two-day police remand. Preliminary investigation indicated it to be an abetment-to-suicide case, said the police.
The police said the accused had met the elder minor girl and clicked some selfies with her, which he saved in the pen drive. He made a call to victim on Sunday also, after which the incident happened.
Mukesh Kumar, DSP, said the actual cause of the death would be determined only after the chemical examination report from experts. About any sexual assault with girls, he said he could comment only after the reports were got.
It is learnt that both the minor sisters — one of 15-years-old and another of 12-years-old went missing on July 24. They lived in a locality that fall under Ram Nagar police station of the city. Their mother told the police her both daughters went for a walk near the Western Yamuna canal on Sunday evening, but did not come back, after which they launched a search to trace them.
