Ambala: The police have arrested Gurvinder Singh alias Gussa of Naggal, near here, for drug smuggling. The arrest was made on the confessional statement of Jagjit Singh. The accused was sent to 14-day judicial remand by a local court. TNS

Four arrested for assault

The police have arrested Babloo, Rajinder Kumar, Amrish and Vinod of Ambala in a case of assault. Nand Lal had reported that the accused assaulted and intimidated him. A local court ordered the release of the accused on bail. TNS

One nabbed in fraud case

The police have arrested Sandeep Seth alias Sonu of Ambala for immigration fraud. Harpreet Singh of Naraingarh had reported that the accused took a huge sum with the promise of sending him abroad. The accused was later released on bail. TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
