One dead, nine hurt in mishap in Gurugram

A man was killed while nine others, including the driver of a three wheeler, were injured in an accident when a speeding pick-up jeep hit a three wheeler near Khandsa village on Saturday. An FIR was registered at the Sector 37 police station. The police have arrested the jeep’s driver.

According to the complaint filed by Ankush Mor, a native of Hisar district, the incident took place opposite Sunlife Hospital near Khandsa village around 5:30 am on Saturday. He was sitting in the three wheeler with some other passengers.

“The driver stopped the vehicle opposite the hospital. In the meantime, a speeding pick-up jeep came from behind and rammed into it. All passengers, identified as Ashok, Ram Khilawan, Rati Ram, Gunja Gupta, Kiran Devi, Yogesh, Mulayam Singh, Avnesh Kumar and driver Rajbir were injured. They were rushed to the nearby hospital, where the doctors declared Avnesh dead. The jeep’s driver was caught by passersby, who later handed him over to the police,” Ankush said in his complaint.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against the jeep’s driver under relevant sections of the BNS at the Sector 37 police station on Saturday.

“The driver, identified as Pradeep Kumar, has been arrested and the vehicle has been impounded. We had handed over the body to kin after the post-mortem examination while the case is being investigated,” said Sub-Inspector Virnder Kumar, the investigating officer.
