One more arrested in teenage girl murder case

The Guhla police have arrested one more accused in a shocking case of murder of 15-year-old girl which was shown as a road accident. Earlier, five persons, including the mother of the victim, were arrested in this case. The sixth arrested accused has been identified as Mithun, alias Mithu, a resident of Hansumajra. The main accused in this case Laddi of the same village is absconding. The police claimed that efforts were on to arrest him.

“Earlier, accused Mithun was absconding. Now, he has been arrested. So far, we have arrested six people, including mother of the teenage girl, Rekha, Rajesh, Ranjeet, and Ranjeet Singh,” a spokesperson said.

A Zero FIR was initially filed at Radaur and later transferred to Guhla police station, he said. Sub-Inspector (SI) Vijender Singh and his team members investigated the case and arrested the accused, he said.

The spokesperson said that a man from Yamunanagar district filed a complaint on May 19, in which he stated that his wife left home with their daughter, saying they were going to a satsang in Kurukshetra, he said. The next day, when he called his wife, she said they were still at the satsang and would return the next day. Later, she returned home and claimed that the girl had died in a road accident, the spokesperson said. The family performed her last rites, believing the story. However, the mother’s changing of statements regarding the incident raised suspicion.

During the rasam kriya ritual on Sunday, the mother confessed the crime. She revealed that Rekha from Bakana village, her co-worker in the factory, introduced her to Laddi of Hansumajra in Kaithal. She developed a physical relationship with him. Later, Laddi threatened to expose the affair unless she brought her daughter to him. Rekha also pressurised her to agree, the spokesperson said.

On May 19, on the pretext of going to satsang, she and Rekha took the girl to Laddi’s house. There, she gave the girl a powder given by Laddi. Later, Laddi entered the girl’s room, and after hearing her screams, they rushed in. Laddi gave them another dose, which they forced the girl to swallow. The girl began foaming at the mouth, the spokesperson said.

Laddi’s brother Ranjeet called a local doctor, Rajesh, who administered an injection, after which the girl died. They then called Ranjeet, a driver, and their neighbour, Mithu. The group dumped girl’s body at Dhaulra bus stop to make it look like an accident and sent her mother home, the spokesperson said.
