OPD at medical varsity delayed

There was a plan to start the OPD in the newly constructed Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay University of Health Sciences, but it has also been delayed due to the enforcement of the MCC.

The OPD was to be part of a 750-bed super specialty hospital, which includes administrative and residential blocks. The estimated cost of the university is Rs 761.51 crore, and it is being built on 138 acres of land.

The delay in the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, and officials has already delayed the functioning of the university.

The government has planned to start the OPD using the staff from the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (KCGMC).However, the enforcement of the MCC has halted this plan as well.

Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced the medical university on December 13, 2014 from Chandigarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of this ambitious project on February 12, 2019, from Kurukshetra.

Initially scheduled for completion by January 2022, the project faced many delays.
