Opening of Shambhu border: Congress launches signature campaign
Ambala, July 14
Accusing the BJP government of betraying farmers and traders, the Congress has launched a signature campaign to press for the opening of the Haryana Punjab inter-state border at Shambhu.
Congress leaders said that they had set a target to collect at least 10,000 signatures from local residents and traders and submit them along with a memorandum to the Haryana Governor in support of their demand
Congress leader Rohit Jain, who launched the campaign, said, “Despite the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the state government has no intentions to open the Shambhu border”.
“The government has been paying no attention to the plight of the farmers and traders of Ambala, who have been suffering losses due to the closure of Shambhu. The government should leave its stubbornness and get the matter resolved,” he added.
“We have launched a signature campaign in their support and have decided to approach the Haryana Governor with a memorandum along with the signatures. There is resentment among people and they will teach the BJP a lesson,” he added.
