The programme was inaugurated by Principal Dr Ashima Gakkhar, who recalled the glorious 76-year journey of the college. Paying tributes to founder Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia and Diwan Anand Kumar in the field of education, she said that this institution goes far beyond imparting education and is symbolic of the rich Indian culture, social service and humanity. She informed that the college started with only eight teachers and today has become a strong centre of education with the help of 108 learned professors and 60 hardworking non-teaching staff.

She further said that under the new National Education Policy, students have the freedom to choose subjects, which will help in their multidimensional development. She informed that the college provides scholarships and awards to talented students from time to time. In this year’s convocation, a total of 128 rolls of honour were given to 64 students, which is a proof of their hard work and talent.

Highlighting the role of the placement cell, the Principal informed that last year, 150 students of the college have got employment in reputed companies. Along with this, the mentor-mentee system, NCC, NSS, Red Cross, women development cell, youth and cultural committees are continuously working for the all-round development of the students and the institute.

“This college is a combination of education and culture. Remember, education is a journey, not a destination. If you move forward with hard work, dedication and positive thinking, no goal in life will be impossible,” said the Principal.
