Amid the Covid scare, residents of various villages in Panipat have barred the entry of outsiders in their villages.

They have not only banned entry but also banned the people from going outside the villages. The youths in villages have barricaded the roads.

Score of villages — Dehra, Pawati, Mahavati, Hathwala, Chulkana, Manana, Pattikalyana, Dicadla, Bilaspur, Urlana Kalan, Atawla, Jalalpur Pratham, Kutanai, Kurar and Sanoli Kalan — locked down their villages.

The village panchayats sanitised their villages, streets and public places and then locked those down. Youths in the villages have started holding ‘theekri pehras’ to check the entry and exit of people.

As per the information available, the youths are standing guard 24 hours at all entry roads to their villages. — TNS
