GD Goenka University’s first Sohna Marathon was organised here on Saturday with over 1,200 runners, including a participant from Kenya.

The marathon had a registration from Preetam Rani Siwach, former captain of the Indian women’s hockey team. Sohna MLA Sanjay Singh was present.

“The marathon’s primary objective is to increase awareness on women’s safety and promote good health by way of running,” said Prof Suku Bhaskaran, university president.

“This marathon marks the silver jubilee year of GD Goenka Group and its first edition has been very successful in creating awareness on women safety and health issues,” said Prof Jayasankar Variyar, Pro Vice Chancellor.
