More than 1,600 policemen will be deployed at the 16-day Surajkund International Craft Fair scheduled between February 7 and 23.

Commissioner of Police Satender Kumar Gupta said here today that the police department was prepared to ensure a foolproof security at the fair, which would see the participation and attendance of lakhs of persons during the international event.

While an official of the level of DCP had been made the nodal officer to look after the security arrangements, 600 CCTV cameras would remain functional round the clock in and around the premises spread over 45 acres. Police teams would include 12 ACPs or DSP-rank officials.

Ten scaffoldings had been installed, from where policemen would keep a watch with binoculars, he said, adding that 10 pickets had been set up in different zones, where commandos equipped with weapons and walkie-talkie sets would be posted.

Bomb disposal and dog squads would also be a part of the measures, besides monitoring with the help of drones. The traffic movement would be supervised by four PCRs and six rider teams.

*There will be no entry of heavy vehicles on the road connecting Surajkund, from 7 am to 12 pm midnight during the duration of the fair

*Only vehicles carrying essential goods, like fruits, vegetables, milk and medicines will be allowed to ply

*Vehicles plying to Delhi from Faridabad, and vice versa, have been advised to use National Highway-19 via Badarpur border
