Owner, son injured as shop catches fire
Two persons suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out at a shop on the Old Railway Road here on Sunday, an officer said. The incident took place around 2 am.
The duo - shop owner and his son - had rushed to wake the workers sleeping in the sweets shop.
Around 10 workers escaped by jumping onto an adjacent shop. The shop was completely gutted in the blaze.
Sonu, owner of the shop, and his son were referred to Safdarjang Hospital in Delhi.
Former local councilor Dalip Sahni said he was returning home when he saw the flames and informed the fire department about the incident.
Over 10 fire tenders were pressed into service. It took fire fighters several hours to douse the flames.
