“The book is tailored specifically for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, offering a practical, examination-focused approach to paediatrics. Structured around the core competencies required in paediatric practice, the book covers 24 key topics, including neonatology, growth and development, nutrition, infections, and clinical evaluation,” said Dr Mittal, who has authored books on geriatric assessment, pre-hospital life support, basics in paediatric critical care and paediatric respiratory critical care.
He said special focus was given to sections such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, OSCE (objective structured clinical examination), radiology, and research — addressing the evolving needs of clinical education. “The book also emphasises psychomotor skills, ensuring students not only grasp theoretical concepts but are also trained for hands-on practice. The book is concise yet comprehensive, making it an ideal guide for final examination preparation and clinical internships,” said Dr Mittal. Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor, University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, said Dr Mittal’s extensive clinical experience and academic insight were evident throughout the book.
