Haryana: Panchayat samiti members’ dharna enters Day 2
Karnal, July 28
The state-level dharna of panchayat samiti members and chairpersons entered the second day here on Sunday. They had started a state-level dharna under the banner of the Sanyukt Panchayat Samiti Association Haryana outside the Mini Secretariat, Sector 12, to raise their demands including independent rights for the construction works in their wards, starting of processing register for registration of works, ensuring benefits of Pardhan Mantri Awas Yojana and BPL ration cards to beneficiaries and others.
Jogi Sunil Bishanpura, association state convenor, said they raised their demands at different platforms, but the government failed to fulfil them.
“We had a meeting with CM Nayab Singh Saini on July 24 in Chandigarh. No positive response was given during the meeting forcing us to go on strike,” he said. “We are getting good support from panchayat samiti members across the state. We will march to Chandigarh on foot to highlight our demands if these are not fulfilled within a week,” he said.
