Panipat hospital launches robotic surgery for patients
Residents would now be able to undergo surgeries through robots as a prominent private hospital in the textile city. During the inaugural ceremony on Saturday, Dr Pankaj Mutneja, Chairman, Dr Prem Super Specialty Hospital and Dr Prem Cancer Hospital, told mediapersons that it was the first robotic surgery system launched by any hospital on the stretch between Delhi and Chandigarh.
“Bringing the robotic surgery machine to Panipat, a three-tier city, is a significant step. Now, we will be able to provide more convenient and better treatment to our patients,” Dr Mutneja said.
He further said that robotic surgery was an advanced technology in which surgeons could operate upon patients with the help of robots.
“This technology is used in the treatment of many types of diseases, some which are prominent in the field of robotic surgery, such as heart disease surgery, lung cancer, digestive system diseases such as ulcers, gallstones, digestive system cancer, kidney stones, prostate cancer, female reproductive system diseases such as uterine nodules, cancer, bone diseases such as joint replacement, spine surgery and bone cancer,” Dr Mutneja maintained.
While explaining benefits of the robotic surgery, Dr Abhinav said surgery performed by robots causes less pain. He said, “With a small incision, a patient recovered quickly. Due to higher precision, a patient gets better treatment. The patient is at less risk due to less bleeding. Quick recovery helps patient return to work soon.” — TNS
